Palacio signs for Genoa - July 26,2009

Rodrigo Palacio has agreed a four-year deal at Genoa. A Boca Juniors legend, the 27-year-old has long been targeted by a handful of European clubs, but decided to finally make the move across the Atlantic in order to contend for a place in Diego Maradona’s Argentina squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

In tandem with Martin Palermo at La Bonbonera, Palacio won eight pieces of silverware with Boca, including the 2005 Apertura, 2006 Clausura, 2008 Apertura and 2007 Copa Libertadores. He has also made eight appearances for his country, scoring his lone goal in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador in June 2008.

Palacio will be expected to fill the boots of Alberto Diego Milito at Stadio Luigi Ferraris and will line up alongside fellow Argentina international Hernan Crespo. Milito signed for Inter Milan earlier this summer.
