Africa Cup of Nations:Super Pharaohs 3-1 wingless Eagles - January 12,2010

The Super Eagles of Nigeria today failed to impress and convince the over 150 millions Nigerians that they are World Cup materials.

The match began on casual note with Egypt taking the initiative but their effort was wasted in the 5th minute of the game by Mohammed Zidan, only for Nigeria to draw the curtain raiser through clinical finish by Chinedu Obasi who earlier dropped from the squad.

The defending despite down 1-0 did not loss focus, in the 34th minutes the Pharaoh drew parity when Emad Moteob beat onrushing Nigeria goalkeeper Enyeama. The first 45 minutes ended one goal apiece.

The second half witnessed a more determined and purposeful Egyptians taking advantage of technically deflated Nigeria team.

The pharaohs who are back to back champion and looking for their seventh Africa Cup Nations glory took lead through Ahmed Hassan in the 54th minute when his long range shot was deflected by Taiwo, with less than 3 minutes to full time, substitute Gado scored the third final goal as the Pharaohs recorded their first victory over super eagles in 47years.

Meanwhile, Mozambique and Benin settled for a 2-2 draw in the match of the day.
