The black star of Ghana suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat in the hand of Ivory Coast. Ghana were scheduled to play their first game against Togo last Tuesday, the match did not take place due to the attack on the Togolese team and their subsequent withdrawal from tournament.
The first half ended with Ivory Coast leading 1-0, Gervinho gave his team the lead when the 23rd minute through beautiful counter-attack moves.
Minutes after the second half started the elephant boys were reduced to 10-men after Emmanuel eboue was sent off for his rough tackle on Agyemang Opoku.
With this victory Ivory Coast booked their place in the quarter final while Ghana will need to beat Burkina Faso in they are to reach the last Eight.
